As part of NGEL’s unwavering commitment to sustainability and environmental stewardship, the company has undertaken significant plantation initiatives aimed at enhancing green cover in its power projects. These efforts are aligned with NGEL’s vision of promoting ecological balance alongside renewable energy development.

Under Desert Green Shield Project of Government of Rajasthan
Under the Desert Green Shield Project, NGEL is implementing plantation related activities in Bikaner District:
1. Roadside Plantation along a 7 km stretch from Kalasar to Rajasar and Sawaisar.
2. Roadside Plantation along a 5 km stretch from Chattargarh Tehsil road to Chattargarh Solar Plant.
Additional Green Initiative
Development of Thar Vatika along NH-168 through plantation of about 6,000 saplings in Jaisalmer District, Rajasthan.
These initiatives not only contribute to carbon sequestration and biodiversity enhancement but also support NGEL’s broader sustainability goals and alignment with national environmental objectives.
As the capacity of NGEL continues to grow, maintaining optimal performance of solar photovoltaic (PV ) systems has become a critical priority. One of the key challenges faced by solar plants is the accumulation of dust, dirt and other environmental pollutants on solar panels which can reduce energy in high dust region. Moreover, it requires manual labor and significant water consumption for its cleaning.
NGEL has implemented advanced technological solutions for module cleaning by adopting robotic cleaning technology. Robotic cleaning is currently being used in places like Devikot, Bhensada, and Shimbhoo Ka Burj-2 and installed in upcoming solar projects.
Key benefits:
1.Waterless cleaning aligns commitment to innovations and sustainability goals.
2.Reducing carbon footprints of operational efficiency and enhance energy yields
3.Robotic Cleaning eliminates the need for chemicals, ensuring eco- friendly maintenance
Robotic cleaning at Bhainsara Solar Power Project
NGEL is committed to integrating innovative and ecofriendly practices across its renewable energy projects and constructed recharge pits to promote groundwater replenishment and sustainable resource management.
NGEL has developed recharge pits in Jetsar, Fategarh, Radhanpur, Ayodhya and Ettayapuram Solar projects which shall help in recharging aquifers, maintaining groundwater levels and reduce water scarcity in surrounding areas.
In addition to it, NGEL is also developing water recharge shafts under Karm Bhoomi se Matribhoomi Mission across 10 locations in Fatehgarh District, Rajasthan
